Miami Tropical Marathon Water Station, 2/1/2004
Tuesday, February 03 @ 22:52:20 EST
In order to assist the organizing committee with putting on a first-class marathon and to help runners from all over the world to finish the race, Knights from Council #3274 arrived at their assigned location at 6:00am on a chilly Saturday morning to make sure that the critical water station at the 25-mile mark of the Miami Tropical Marathon was well stocked.
In spite of rainy weather, all the members, wives and children that participated had a great time cheering on the runners. "The race organizers showed great confidence in the Council, assigning us to staff a station at the end of the race where volunteers are needed the longest", explained Ralph Ruiz the Council's Marathon Committee Chairman, adding "After the race, they thanked us with a very nice letter and an unexpected donation for our 'outstanding service to every runner from the race winner to the very last finisher'", adding that our service had helped to make the Miami Tropical Marathon a great success.
