Friday, October 05 @ 09:01:18 EDT
On the 1st of October, a delegation from Council 3274 including Grand Knight Jose Matute, Financial Secretary James Bond, and Doug Austin, visited Msgr. Pace High School to present a scholarship to Pace freshman Quanisha Jervis. Quanisha, like other scholarship recipients will need to maintain a B average and perform a minimum of 50 community service hours each academic year in order to maintain her scholarship for the four years.
In the award letter, Grand Knight Matute wrote, "We Knights of Columbus strongly believe in the value of a Catholic education and, to that end, have established our scholarship program to support worthy students like you in obtaining the valuable education that institutions like Monsignor Pace can provide. Please realize that there are many people who are praying for you and support you in reaching your goals. Add the members of the Knights of Columbus Coral Gables Council to that list!"
During their stop at Monsignor Pace High School, the Knights also spoke with Briana McGregor, a member of this year's Senior class and an excellent student who has attended Pace on a Knights of Columbus Scholarship from Council 3274 that she earned by submitting the winning entry for the KofC Essay Contest when she was an eight grader at St. Francis Xavier Catholic School.
Pictured left to right besides the statute of the resurrected Christ are Pace Advisory Committee member Harold Robaina, Knight and Pace alumni Doug Austin, Financial Secretary James Bond, Quanisha Jervis, Brianna McGregor, Grand Knight Jose Matute, and Pace Principal Ana Garcia.
