Knights pledge $2.5 million in disaster relief and offer to match all donations during the next 60 days.
"Council 3274 is joining with other councils and assemblies in the United States and Canada in this relief effort by raising relief funds during the next 60 days," said Grand Knight John Medina, who added, "We know that many Knights of Columbus in local councils near the affected areas are volunteering their homes, council halls, and personal time and supplies to those affected, we need to do what we can to support them." Checks should be made payable to "Knights of Columbus-Hurricane Relief" and mailed to 270 Catalonia Avenue, Coral Gables, FL 33134. These efforts, local and national, will expand in the days ahead. Members of the Order in the United States and Canada, and the general public are asked to donate to this effort.
One hundred percent of local contributions are tax deductible, will be matched by the Supreme Council, and will go directly to hurricane relief. The Knights of Columbus Supreme Council is also looking into the possibility of establishing a job bank for those displaced.
